FARER CUPRUM — EASTERN ARABIC LIMITED EDITION

THE WATCH

Farer has never been afraid of colour. In fact, that is probably one of the reasons the British brand continues to stand out in an increasingly crowded independent watch landscape.

But the Cuprum Eastern Arabic Limited Edition caught my attention for something slightly different. It isn't just colourful. The combination feels genuinely elegant.

The starting point is Farer's Integra platform: a compact integrated-bracelet sports watch measuring 38.5mm across and only 10.3mm thick. Then comes the dial.

And that's where this version becomes interesting.

THE DIAL MAKES IT

The salmon-pink dial is already a strong choice, but Farer pairs it with chocolate-brown Eastern Arabic numerals and hands.

It shouldn't necessarily be an obvious combination, yet it works extremely well.

There is also more happening here than colour. The dial combines a sunray centre, a grained middle section and a brushed outer minute track, giving the salmon tone different personalities depending on the light.

The Eastern Arabic numerals are made from Lumicast — ceramic combined with Super-LumiNova — before being overprinted in chocolate brown. When the lume activates, light appears from behind the numerals rather than simply illuminating their surface.

It's a small detail, but exactly the kind of detail that makes an independent watch interesting.

MORE THAN A DIFFERENT DIAL

Underneath, this is still a serious everyday watch.

The 316L steel case is paired with Farer's integrated bracelet, mixing brushed surfaces with polished chamfers and centre links. The bracelet tapers from 24mm to 16mm and includes on-the-fly micro-adjustment.

Farer also includes a brown rubber strap, which changes the character considerably and makes the Cuprum feel much sportier.

With 100 metres of water resistance, this isn't an integrated-bracelet watch that needs to be treated delicately.

Inside is the Swiss Sellita SW300-1 Top Grade automatic movement, running at 4Hz with approximately 56 hours of power reserve. Farer has also fitted a full circular rotor vapour-coated in salmon pink to match the dial.

Again: unnecessary, but good unnecessary.

€1,745. DOES IT MAKE SENSE?

You get a Top Grade Swiss movement, sapphire front and back, 100m water resistance, a well-developed integrated bracelet, an additional rubber strap and a genuinely detailed dial.

I see the value.

More importantly, the watch doesn't feel as though Farer created a limited edition simply by changing a dial colour. The Eastern Arabic numerals alter its identity, while the salmon and chocolate palette gives it a character completely different from the usual blue, black and green integrated sports watches.

And only 75 pieces will be produced.

HOUR KIND TAKE

This is the kind of limited edition I like.

Not louder for the sake of being louder. Not another collaboration logo. Not a tiny colour change presented as something completely new.

Farer took an existing watch and gave it a stronger identity.

The 38.5mm proportions are right, the salmon and chocolate combination is excellent, and the Eastern Arabic numerals turn what could have been another integrated sports watch into something genuinely distinctive.

Would I buy it?

Yes.

Salmon, chocolate and Eastern Arabic numerals. Farer takes an already good integrated sports watch and gives it much more personality.
